Add Texture to Your Metal Work
Просмотров 12 тыс.5 лет назад
Blacksmith, Bladesmith, pick up a needle scaler. Very easy way to age some age and character to steel. This idea was inspired by Black Bear Forge's channel. He didn't really show the results or how it could work on a knife blade, so I'm made this as sort of a continuance of his idea. #blacksmith #texture #needlescaler

Wow, that’s great I can save $.85 a linear foot for making my own trim. Only have to have a shop with about $40,000 worth of exotic power tools and planers.
Hope your not as dumb as that comment .

Have you checked out what's down those wormholes?
Good idea.. love from India ❤
Always use 3 in 1!
Thank you for this test. You put a ton of time and resources into it and again I offer my thanks.
Thank you
Thank you so much and what dimensions is that cardboard?
Greetings size bags do you recommend for packing of T-shirts?
I have used 9x11 and 10x12. They come in all sizes, so you just have to try one. I was mailing a lot of shirts at one time and also picked the sizes based off of mailer envelopes too.
Beautiful knife
youre a joke
Great video! Appreciate seeing this test! Thanks!
Trifloe is my fav for rust resistant
Wow!
Yo i work there So One thing is we are doing a fundraiser rn 1 dollar and you get a coupon for a free #1 sandwich with the purchase of a med fry and drink Also Extra vegies are of no extra charge (not including jalapeño and avocado) Grilled onions are free too And if you want grilled chicken Ask for it fresh It will take about 8 minutes to get out but the chicken we have ready is sitting there for like and hour At least before its used Just be nice the the person taking your order and make sure your clear when asking I work the customer service sections and we are very stressed trying to understand what you are saying and what everyone else is saying
How many burgers do you make with no meat?
@SelfMadeProject we get atleast one every shift I've made a few don't know exactly how many
@SelfMadeProject there is a no meat option on our modification page for orders If you person that took your order was new its possible that they hit that on accident
So blue my knives and 3 in 1 got.
just dont use cold blue meant for gun parts for knives meant for food, some foods react with the blue and can cause a nasty taste.
Nice restoration. That original yellow material looks like derlin like Case uses.
Quick and straight to the point. Thank you!
"You're not supposed to weld cast iron"... Well that tells me the extent of ignorance. Have fun with fewer fingers. Lol
Well, first off, you can weld cast iron. I also pointed out that it was preheated before welding. I have welded cast iron with arc welders many times. In, addition, it is not in a safety sensitive area of the saw and is very lightly loaded. If the weld were to fail, it wouldn't even matter, the pipe would still be held by friction. The only reason I even said that was to stop all the ignorant RUclips arm chair safety Nazi's from commenting. And, there you go...
@SelfMadeProject I'm a nazi now am I? Yup, you're bound for fewer fingers with logic like that building a bandsaw. Lmao
@@SelfMadeProject Not a safety sensitive area? It's holding your work, genius
@@TheLastDeadCat How much have you used a saw mill? Ever built one? Do you own a welder? A log can weigh a couple thousand pounds. It holds itself in place for the most part. Takes very little pressure from that clamp to keep it still. I don't even have to use the clamp until the cant gets smaller. Even if it broke completely off, even if the log rolled off the mill, it would simply break the blade or stall the motor. Blades break sometimes, its very uneventful. No big deal.
@SelfMadeProject Well I sure hope no other safety corners were cut
This test is as close to scientific as possible. With people did more tests thr way you this test is done. Best wishes
Sir, that is a big rock tumbler
Can let it soak in white vinegar and it does the same thing. All your doing is literslly wearing the tools down.
Well, obviously you don't get my sense of humor. However, I actually used this to pulverize course bentonite clay into a powder to be used in green sand casting. It has its uses.
I have seen people do that for rock tumblers. Some inflate a balance ball in the middle to seal it.
I have a similar setup. I use it for human skulls
Nice
Can’t say it’s worth a fortune, but your resourcefulness impressive!
Its a media tumbler nothing new people even use cement mixers.
Now, a cement mixer would be kinda boring. Where's the fun in that?
Man you are a genius
Can I see a before and after picture. Thank you.
Genesis 😎👍
Fine job.
Could these blades be cleaned up?
Yes, they were all made into finished blades. Corrosion is only on the surface, just a quick hit on the belt grinder and they're good as new.
This is a pro tip
who taught u this inginuity
Beautiful job!
Best Homemade Band saw I have watched, Thanks!
Probably interesting but all that teeth sucking noise or whatever that is is just nasty sounding
Nice tip, thanks for posting!
Beeswax on all my carbon steel, works great
Good stuff.
Great test. Thank you for sharing. I am testing a number of food safe finishes right now for chefs knife. I did Axe Wax, Frog Lube, Simple Finish, and Ren Wax. I know Ren Wax isn't technically food safe but based on what I've read, most people say that the toxic elements in it actually evaporate. You have any thoughts on that? Seems like Axe Wax or Frog Lube are going to be the best for my use.
yeah, I use Ren Was quite a bit. Now, I wouldn't slather a coat of wax on it and immediately go cut food with it, but, for a general use blade that I've been carrying for a while, wouldn't even worry about it.
Great build , innovative use of salvage components
Wow just the video i needed to see man thank you for taking the time to do this makes a difference
A sock helps put it under it roll it up bam perfect its like heat press pillow
Ive been using rem oil on my microtech per manufacturers recommendation but its 3in 1 from now on.oh and keep that squeaky puddy cat well fed
Torture testing has its place unlike you JoeX tests to failure. I love seeing your and his results. They show me limits. Knowing the limits helps me keep me knives in terrific shape. My carbon steel knives are usually refinished with a forced patina, and I use the same home made fixin wax on knives, sheaths, cutting boards almost anything. It's a combination of beeswax, mineral oil and coconut oil and some essential oil for a nice smell. I wipe my knives off after every use, and wax/oil them and the sheaths at the same time as needed.
hope you are ok got me hook on the conversion.
Other than no tape on the blade for safety, this video is brilliant. The new vise is similar to those used for wood carving. I used to turn split wood spindles using wax paper and white glue for clean separation. In the 60's & 70's we were limited on materials. I'll keep watching your videos. Thanks😊😊😊
I know this is an old video, but it would have been interesting to have seen how a black powder bullet lube of 50% tallow & 50% bee’s wax would have worked. As a lot of black powder enthusiasts use that on their gun’s to protect their black powder revolvers, and some use Johnson’s floor wax.
Better hang on to that Johnson paste wax! Guess they don't make it anymore.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Nice homemade mill those were some pretty nice slabs keep up the good work God bless
Great experiment!!
